Administrative Investigations (AI) is a process of impartial identification, analysis, and objective application of professional investigative methods to resolve questions of fact. Questions of fact emerge from conflicts in the workplace, allegations of misconduct, or other possible wrongdoing which are presented through offices including Human Resources; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Civil and Ombuds offices.

Too often organizations lack professional administrative investigative capability, leaving issues unresolved or burdening others with the task of “getting to the bottom” of an allegation – without a full understanding of best practices and while risking their own reputation and ability to perform their primary function. Equally important, ineffective investigation results in slow processes where an accused who has done no wrong may have a prolonged shadow over them, or wrongdoers remain a risk to the organization. Further, ineffective action often results in protracted negotiations, expensive settlements, and a perceived lack of accountability and due process. These are all toxic to a harmonious work environment.
